UN Research Roadmap for the COVID-19 Recovery

Developed in just 10 weeks, the Roadmap outlines 25 research priorities for the socio-economic recovery from COVID-19 that will help answer a singularly important question: How can COVID-19 socio-economic recovery efforts be purposefully designed to stimulate equity, resilience, sustainability and progress towards the SDGs?

WHO

COVID-19 Health System Response Monitor (HSRM)

Health systems are facing enormous pressure to both manage COVID-19 patients and maintain essential services. As these challenges grow, governments and policy-makers are calling for clear and comparable health systems evidence to inform their policies and to strengthen their capacity to respond to this unprecedented crisis.

In response, WHO Regional Office for Europe, the European Commission, and the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies have launched a new tool to analyse COVID-19 response measures across European countries launched. This new online platform, launched 2 April 2020, aims to provide countries and stakeholders in the WHO European Region with evidence of how national health systems are responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Alliance for Health Policy and Systems Research

The Alliance for Health Policy and Systems Research (the Alliance), an international partnership hosted by the WHO, works to improve the health of those in low-and middle-income countries by supporting the generation and use of evidence that strengthens health systems. Selected resources developed by the Alliance are featured below.

Monitoring the Building Blocks of Health Systems: A Handbook of Indicators and Their Measurement Strategies
This handbook describes a set of indicators and related measurement strategies, structured around the WHO framework that describes health systems in terms of 6 core components or “building blocks”: (i) service delivery, (ii) health workforce, (iii) health information systems, (iv) access to essential medicines, (v) financing, and (vi) leadership/governance.

Framework for action for strengthening health systems
This framework aims to promote a common understanding of what a health system is and what constitutes health systems strengthening. It also provides a basis to support countries in scaling up health systems and services: addressing bottlenecks in a collaborative, coordinated way, driven by desired health outcomes, to achieve sustainable system-wide effects.

Our World in Data

Coronavirus Country Profiles
Which countries are doing better and which are doing worse?  Developed by the University of Oxford and the Global Change Data Lab, these 207 country profiles allow exploration of the statistics on the coronavirus pandemic for every country in the world. Each profile includes a section on government responses and the measures each country has taken in response to the pandemic. Each profile includes interactive visualizations, explanations of the presented metrics, and the details on the sources of the data. Every country profile is updated daily.

Oxford COVID-19 Government Response Tracker (OxCGRT)

Governments are taking a wide range of measures in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. Systematic information on which governments have taken which measures, and when, can help decision-makers and citizens understand the robustness of governmental responses in a consistent way, aiding efforts to fight the pandemic.

OxCGRT aims to systematically collects information on several different common policy responses governments have taken and compare government responses to the coronavirus outbreak worldwide rigorously and consistently.
